How to make a Shopify store shoppable by ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude

Step-by-step: make a Shopify store readable and shoppable by ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude with clean product data, discovery files and agent endpoints.

    The Apirro team

To make a Shopify store shoppable by ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, publish complete product data with live price and stock, allow AI crawlers, add discovery files, and expose an agent endpoint such as MCP or UCP that can search products and build a cart. Orders then hand off to your normal Shopify checkout.

    1. Fix the product data first

Every assistant relies on the same facts. Make sure each product has a clear title, a factual description, variants, GTIN or SKU, price, availability, images, and delivery and returns policies. Shopify themes output Product schema, but check it includes Offer price and availability for every variant.

    2. Let AI crawlers in

Check robots.txt allows the crawlers you want, such as OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended. Make sure key product content appears in the page HTML, not only after scripts run.

    3. Publish discovery files

Add an llms.txt summary of your store and /.well-known manifests that point agents to your endpoints. These files tell an assistant what you sell and how to talk to you.

    4. Expose an agent endpoint

An MCP server or UCP endpoint lets an assistant search your live catalogue, check stock and create a cart. Claude and other MCP clients can connect directly; Google's shopping surfaces use UCP.

    5. Keep checkout on Shopify

The agent builds the cart, then hands the shopper to your Shopify checkout with the items prefilled. Payments, fraud checks and order records stay where they are today.

Apirro syncs a Shopify catalogue and provides these endpoints through Agent Link™, with signed cart handoff to your checkout. The demo page shows the flow against an example store.

    FAQ

Does ChatGPT already see my Shopify products?

It may see some pages through search and browsing, but without complete structured data and an agent endpoint it cannot reliably check live stock or build a cart.

Will this change my Shopify checkout?

No. The agent prepares the cart and the shopper completes payment in your existing Shopify checkout.

    How long does setup take?

Data and crawler fixes can be done in days. Adding an agent endpoint through a provider is usually faster than building and maintaining one in-house.
